2023 Kayak State Championship Announced

Posted on September 30, 2023 Written by Brent Stafford

Texas BASS Nation now has a Kayak Division. Duc Tran has taken the lead as Kayak Division Director with Tracy Dugan filling the role of Treasurer. Welcome to the Team!!

The primary goal of the Kayak Division this year is to host a State Championship so that Kayak fishermen from Texas can move on to the next level of competition in the BASS organization.

With that goal in mind Texas BASS Nation Kayak Division is hosting a State Championship October 7, 2023 on Possum Kingdom Reservoir open to Kayakers from around the state. The Championship Captain’s meeting & dinner will be held at Rock Creek Camp Park on Friday, October 6 starting at 3 pm. Registration for the tournament can be done online from the State Championship page or on site Friday evening at 3 pm.

Qualifiers from the TBN State Championship will advance to the 2024 Bassmaster Kayak National Championship to be held on Lake Tenkiller in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on March 20-21, 2024.

2024 Membership Renewal

Posted on September 10, 2023 Written by Brent Stafford

Membership renewal for Texas BASS Nation opened September 1, 2023. The window for renewing individual B.A.S.S. membership, Club Division membership, Youth Division membership, College Division membership and Kayak Division membership will remain open through December 31, 2023. Team Division membership will be simplified for 2024. Details and guidance for renewing all types of membership can be found on the TBN Membership page.

Texas BASS Nation now has a true online membership database!! What does that mean? It means that bass club officers will not have to re-enter member information every year from this point forward!! In fact, historical membership data has been imported into the new database. All you need to do this year is verify the information is accurate, update the information if needed and pay for one or more members with a credit card. This is a huge step forward in streamlining the membership renewal process in Texas.

So take a look at the new system and get started on the TBN Membership page!!

Nandine & Montgomery Move on the BASSMASTER Kayak Championship

Posted on December 7, 2021 Written by Brent Stafford

December 5, 2021

Day 1 was overcast and calm most of the day. Day 2 stared out overcast along with a 20 MPH breeze that tested the fortitude of paddlers at the first Texas BASS Nation Kayak State Championship on Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir in central Texas.

The lake is super clear and full of grass, down to 30 feet of water, so the bite was pretty consistent all day if you got on ’em.

Rolando Nandine came out on top with a total of 175″ of bass and a check for $1000.

Second place went to Joey Montgomery with a total of 172.75″ and a check for $700.

Third place went to Alan Cox with a total of 128.0″ of bass and a check for $400.

With a 22 boat field, two teams qualified to move on the next level. The next level being the BASSMASTER Kayak Series Championship to be held March 2nd & 3rd, 2022 on Richard B. Russel Lake in Anderson, South Carolina.

Congratulations to Rolando Nandine and Joey Montgomery who will represent the Texas BASS Nation at the Championship. The tournament field will be comprised of qualifiers from the 2021 Kayak Series — and though the tournament will actually conclude on March 3, the winner will be revealed March 4 and receive a first-place prize of at least $20,000 on stage at Bon Secours Wellness Arena before the first-round weigh-in of the Bassmaster Classic.

Good luck Rolando and Joey!!

March 17, 2026 By DaShon Peck

Event #2 is in the books! Huge congrats to Rolando Nandin for securing the win and big bass! Jacob Moeller got 2nd, Ote Shaw got 3rd, and Jesus Reyes got 4th! The south wind made things pretty hairy at the end of the day. We had and angler flip his kayak and was not able to recover […]
