Club Division Southeast Region Opener 1/17/26
The 2026 Southeast Region Individual Trail kicked off Saturday January 17, 2026, on Lake Sam Rayburn out of Cassels Boykin Park with 69 anglers competing. Due to forecasted high winds and extremely low lake levels, this was designated a trailering tournament. Pre-tournament talk had anglers catching them in a variety of ways from shallow grass to flooded timber, creek channels, and roadbeds.
At the conclusion of the weigh-in The Bass Club member Wesley Baxley had topped the field with five bass weighing in at 19.61. Wesley stated that he started out in drains in depths ranging from 10-20 feet of water throwing an A-Rig and caught a small limit, at that point he went searching out on the main lake in deeper water with timber and culled up the rest of the day with a jig head minnow.
Colby Bryant with The Bass Club finished second with a five bass limit that weighed 17.37 pounds. Colby states that he targeted drains in 12-20 feet of water.
Vidor Bass Anglers association member Cord Rawls finished third overall with a five bass limit tipping the scales at 16.82 pounds. Cord said he targeted brush piles in 10-15 feet of water with a jig.
Aaron Slaten with Seven Coves Bass Club caught the Big Bass of the tournament a 5.37 pounder, Aaron caught his fish on a Carolina Rig and was pleasantly surprised that it held on to win Big Bass of the tournament, as he only weighed it hoping to win Big Bass in his club.
Eric Adams with The Bass Club had the second Big Bass of the day, a 5.08 pounder, Eric stated he caught it on a Carolina rig as well.
Glenn Miglicco with American Anglers Bass Club won the Senior Division side pot and finished 12th overall with a 5 bass limit that weighed 10.04 pounds and Vidor Bass Anglers Association member Gary Robin placed 2nd in the Senior Division with 4 bass weighing 9.50 pounds.
