2024 TEXAS CLUB DIVISION STATE CHAMPIONSHIP – Cedar Creek Lake

Posted on April 16, 2024 Written by DaShon Peck

Cedar Creek was a little stingier on last Friday than anticipated after 3 days of hard rain that dampened practice for many and muddied up the water, but it did kick out some really good fish. Friday was picture perfect. Blue bird skies, light wind, post frontal Texas day. Saturday started out the same, but the wind kicked up mid-day, creating yet another challenge for anglers to contend with. Anglers trailered from Log Cabin to the Gun Barrel City Pavilion for a drive through weigh in both days of the tournament.

2024 Northwest Region Team YTD Standings

April 6, 2024 Breckenridge, TX: With sustained morning winds of 20 mph and slight overcast the day was promising to be a rough one! Winds increased to 30 during the day and slacked off after noon. The lake is 50% full and 12 ft below conservation pool but still accessible by a couple ramps. The water is stained and muddy with high winds for the last 3 days. But that didnt stop the guys from locating the fish.

Mike Schooler and Randy White brought in an awesome sack of five bass including the days big bass! Total weight 24.52 lbs…big bass weight 8.77 lbs. New to the NW Region trail Mike and Randy caught them in 2 to 5 ft of waster next to a channel. They ran the batteries down on their trolling motor and had to put the shallow water anchors down to continue fishing. “They seemed to come to us” Mike said. We kept throwing parallel to the bank and caught the two big ones on back to back casts. Congratulations guys and welcome to the TBOTT!!

Second place went to “Team Consistency” Chris Cobos and Julian Machuca, also with a five fish limit that weighed 17.64 lbs. That bag included a 7.55 lb kicker! A fantastic sack on any body of water. Chris and Julian maintain first place in the Northwest Region Team of The Year race after three events with a 34 point lead over Chase Lawson and Jody Morris. Its still a race!!

Third place went to the Team of Rollie Sheppard and Greg Badgett with five fish that weighed 15.47 lbs. They had a nice kicker fish that went 7.43 lbs. Congratulations guys on being first out of the money!!

The next Team qualifier event in the NW Region will be May 11, 2024 on Possum Kingdom at the BRA Public Ramp #3 near the Motorboat Inn. Sharpen your hooks….this is going to be a good one!!
