Late evenings and early mornings are grand on Lake LBJ in the Texas Hill Country. The field enjoyed slick calm waters and a ramp to ourselves as daylight broke. It was not the same tranquility loading up at the LBJ Yacht Club as the lake life had woken up from their late Friday night activities.
Trevor Romans and David Rush spent there day up the Llano and Colorado River systems that feeds LBJ form Llano and Burnett counties. They flipped small creature baits into any cover they could find. Their efforts found some hot stretches of quality bites that earned them a 1st place19.75 lbs sack anchored by a 6.26 and a $1,250 payday.

Gary Martin and Mike Loden put numerous patterns together with bladed jigs, spinnerbaits and flukes mostly over grass and added big TX rigged worms over rocks to finish their day with 18.10 lbs and big bass honors with a salty 7.34. 2nd place and big bass paid their team a total of $ 840.

Justin Hallmark and Joe Scuito had the honors of calling take off boat numbers and went out and had a heck of a day following the field. They took home $340 of 3rd place money with a 17.83 lbs limit using a finesse presentation shallow early and moved out deep later in the day.

Congratulations to Kent Sikes and Joe Smith for securing the N.C. T.B.O.T.T. Team of the Year! They lead the season in total weight, number of fish and biggest bass of 2025 in the N.C. T.B.O.T.T. which earned them a paid entry into the T.B.O.T.T. State Championship.
I’ll look forward to seeing all who qualified for the T.B.O.T.T. State Championship at Cedar Creek September 12-13th.
Thanks for fishing the N.C. Texas Bassmaster Open Team Trail!
