3/16/24 Lake O’ The Pines @ Johnson Creek Park
The weather couldn’t have been better for the pre-spawn on Pines! Overcast, 62 degrees, 3-5 mph breeze and calm water. The take off was delayed a few minutes due to the overcast but they fanned out with some going north and some staying south. Almost all teams brought in a limit and one team hit the mother lode! It rained on the weigh-in but we took advantage of the pavilion and stayed dry for the most part.
Some fish were caught shallow and some were caught in 6-10 ft on jerk baits. Of the 17 teams registered in the tourney 16 of them had five fish limits and the seventeenth team had 4 fish. An outstanding day on the water for everyone!!
The winning team of Jimmy Burgess and Brian Porter topped the field with 29.26 lbs but that wasn’t the exciting part. Their kicker fish, caught by Jimmy, was a 10.33 lb monster! AND they had a second fish that was almost that big! WOW!! Check-it out.
Second place honors went to the team of Jordon Osborne and Derek Bartley with a five fish limit that weighed 27.27 lbs. A GREAT sack on any given lake but not enough today on Pines.
Third place went to the team of Zach Fogle and Chris Murray with a five fish limit that went 26.04 lbs and a 6.63 lb kicker. Another awesome sack!
