Back in June the SE Texas BASS Nation Region wrapped up its 2021 season at Toledo Bend announcing the Top 40 Championship location and also naming the Region Angler of the Year. It was close race most of the season but the Title of Angler of the Year went to Wesley Baxley from The BASS Club followed closely by Eric Adams from The Bass Club then Gary Robin from Vidor Bass Anglers Association.
The SE Texas BASS Nation Region held its Region Championship referred to as Top 40 on Choke Canyon Lake. Up until the last several months Choke was 25ft low but Mother Nature stepped in with some big rain storms and raised the lake up 10ft which has provided some excellent structure to fish. The week leading up to the event was predicting nasty weather all weekend. Well it turned out to be partially true. Friday morning was a wet and windy take off till around midday the rain cleared up but the winds remained making it tough on most of the field. Day two turned out the opposite with high sun, clear skies and high temps.
Day 1 boaters wrapped up with Brian Jones from The Bass Club leading with 15.73lbs, followed Dillon Y’barbo from the Vidor Bass Anglers Association with 13.94lbs, 3rd Terry Reich from Seven Coves Bass Club with 13.84 lbs.
Day 1 Non-boaters wrapped up with Ned Westmoreland from Seven Coves Bass Club with 8.87 lbs, followed in 2nd Glenn Miglicco from The Bass Club with 6.42 lbs, 3rd Garrett Smith from Vidor Bass Anglers Association with 5.85 lbs.
Day 2 boaters wrapped up with Paul Meyers from the Houston Bass Bandits with 13.78 lbs, followed in 2nd Brian Jones from The Bass Club with 13.42 lbs, 3rd Jason Branham from Katy Bass Masters with 13.40 lbs.
The two day event wrapped up with Brian Jones from The Bass Club winning the boaters side with an overall weight of 29.15lbs. Followed in 2nd was Terry Reich from Seven Coves Bass Club with 25.55 lbs, 3rd Ed Grisham from The Bass Club with 25.22 lbs
Non-boaters Champion went to Sam Granberry from Seven Coves Bass Club with 13.51 lbs, 2nd place Clayton Smith from The Bass Club with 13.22 lbs, 3rd place Bo Brown from the Katy BassMasters with 12.81 lbs.
